Iphone Application Research
Swacket
I personally love the color pallet and typographic elements.
Dark Sky
Great features, especially the ability to use a slider over the radar map for an ineractive view.
Adium
The interface a the bottom of the screen is nice and clean looking. The ability to have three different tiers of information is something that I would like to establish in my weather application.
Marvel Comics
What can I say? I like the style of comics and the bold speech bubbles. This stylization is an inspiration.
Weddar
The simple cloud shape is effective. The colors are fun. C:
Bla Bla
Simple, only black and white but still visually interesting.
Robick
The circular layout of this app is something to consider with a weather app.
Soundrop
I like the mostly primary color setup. The colors/lines are visually interesting.
New York City Compass
Note the typography.
Chainvetica
Typography and color caught my eye.
UNIQLO Calendar
Simple layout and typography is nice. Also the photos/blocked out color is effective.
JD Reflect
The color palette feature is really nice, something to keep in mind.

E-Book Research
I have decided to use the poems of Carl Sandburg published in his book Cornhuskers.
Cornhuskers was published in 1918 by Henry Holt and Company. The text was re-issued on the internet for free use in Ann Arbor, MI through the University of Michigan Humanities Text Initiative.
About Carl Sandburg (wikipedia)
Carl Sandburg (January 6, 1878 – July 22, 1967) was an American writer and editor, best known for his poetry. He was the recipient of three Pulitzer Prizes: two for his poetry and another for his biography of Abraham Lincoln. H. L. Menckencalled Sandburg "indubitably an American in every pulse-beat".
Related Visuals:
He worked a great deal of his life in wheat fields and plains of Kansas, perhaps there is a relation to the title of the book.

Noisettes - That Girl
I think I want to switch my project to this song...
It's more upbeat and creates a visually stimulating experience.
Lyrics:
I don’t want to talk, wanna hear about the things that she said
Running round in my head
And I don’t know about her favourite magazines that she keeps,
About her blogs and her tweets
I’ll tell you something, it ain’t no mystery how your new best friend looks
in your eyes
Cause,
That girl’s in love with you
That girl’s in love with you
I know that you’re too blind to see
I know that it’s so plain to see
That girl’s in love with you
So madly
I don’t want to speak if you’re not coming home
I’ll be down the street, I’d rather dance to the beat
And I don’t want to cure your hangover
‘Cause we never did shots
You were with her until 4
I don’t mind company
Well not officially
But when she sits next to you
You don’t realise woo-oo-oo-ooh
That girl’s in love with you
That girl’s in love with you
I know that you’re too blind to see
I know that it’s so plain to see
That girl’s in love with you
So madly
That girl’s in love with you
(That girl’s in love with you)
That girl’s in love with you
That girl
I know that you’re too blind to see
I know that it’s so plain to see
That girl’s in love with you
I’m just a so-and-so
A lucky so-and-so
I do what I do ‘cause I’m mad for you
But just a peek at you
And I can see that you’re delirious, so seriously
Backing singer:
Honestly
Dan:
If I was playing, baby, you’d be sorry
Shingai:
Baby end of story
That girl’s in love with you
That girl’s in love with you
I know that you’re too blind to see
I know that it’s so plain to me
That girl’s in love with you
(That girl’s in love with you)
That girl’s in love with you

There Will Be Blood Kinetic Typography
I love everything about this. Particularly the hand drawn elements.
V for Vendetta Dynamic Typography
I especially like the part when the words scroll quickly across the entire stage.

First Project Inspiration
I've been thinking about the first assignment for GRPH 392, in which we create a moving flash animation using type from a song. I think I'm going to use the song "Corner Store" by Jonathan Richman. I can't get this song out of my head right now!
Here are the lyrics:
Here are the lyrics:
Well I walked past just yesterday
And I couldn't bare that new mall no more
I can't expect you all to see it my way
But you may not know what was there before
And I want them to put back my old corner store.
Well I walked past just like I say
And I felt this hurt that would not go home
I can't expect that you're gonna see it my way
But you may not know the trees I've known
And I want them to put back my old corner store.
I know it costs more money to shop there
But this was love, this was love
I know you had to pay more money
I'll pay money, I'll pay more
I don't care what the mall has got
I want back that corner store
And what did I feel when I walked by slow
Sorrow sorrow, all around
Why I would feel sorrow I now know
I smell a ghost smell from the ground
That old wooden smell from the old corner store
Bam a nib a nib a nib way oh
Bam a nib a nib a way oh web oh
Bam a nib a nib a no Corner store Corner store
Bam a nib a nib a nib way oh
Bam a nib a nib a way oh web oh
Bam a nib a nib a no Corner store Corner store
I walked past one final time
And I wished the worst on the place I shop
Now I can't expect everyone to feel like I am
But I spot a trend that has got to stop
And I want them to put back that old corner store
And I couldn't bare that new mall no more
I can't expect you all to see it my way
But you may not know what was there before
And I want them to put back my old corner store.
Well I walked past just like I say
